What is the Trolley Pub?
It’s a 14-person pedal powered trolley on wheels, with a certified Trolley Pub conductor in the captain’s seat, and a first mate that serves as your personal bartender. Perfect for pub crawls, birthday celebrations, bachelor/bachelorette parties, company outings, brewery tours, sightseeing, themed nights out- the possibilities are endless! A minimum of 8 pedalers is necessary to power the trolley.

What all is included in the price?
The price covers the rental cost for the Trolley Pub for the two hours where we make 2-3 stops throughout the downtown Madison area. We’ll provide a driver and first-mate to serve you the entire time too! Coolers are provided as well.

Where do we board the Trolley Pub?
All tours begin and end at at Buckinghams Bar and Grill located at 802 Regent St, Madison, WI 53715.

Where does the Trolley Pub stop and for how long?
During a private tour, that is up to you!

Just let your driver know at the start of the tour.  Most groups stop at three spots (usually bars) for about 15-20 minutes at each stop.  For mixer tours, we will stop at three popular bar/restaurants for 15 minutes at each stop.  These stops will vary based on the group on board, rider requests and the driver discretion. Some people prefer to stay on board the whole tour, even during the stops, and that is just fine!

How much does it cost?
A private tour has a flat rate of $400 plus tax. Mixer tickets, where you can buy individual seats, are $35 plus tax each.  Special events are charged by the hour- plus a drop-off fee if you need to have it transported to your event. Make sure you book your tour well in advance, as we are often sold out on popular time-slots up to a month in advance!

Does the trolley have a motor?
No – the Trolley Pub is pedal-powered fun! If you are hesitant to book due to fitness ability, only ten seats pedal and the other four can relax on non-pedaling seats. However, you should be aware of several tricky hills getting to State Street that can be difficult to ascend for the faint-at-heart.

Can we eat and drink on board?
YES! –  but you have to follow the rules. Canned beverages only, up to two, 12 ounce cans per person (24 oz total)! This includes wine coolers and hard ciders – no glass!!! Bring your own ice chest or use ours.  You are also free to bring food on board. If you get overly intoxicated during the tour and become a nuisance, you will be asked to get off and the ticket is non-refundable.

Can we decorate the trolley for our special occasion?
Of course! Be sure to arrive the full 30 minutes in advanced of your tour depart time to give yourself enough time to put up the decorations. Our drivers are happy to help with this.

We’re not from the Madison area. Where should we stop during the tour?
Check out the Route page on our site for a full list of affiliate bars and popular stops.

What if it rains?
Trolley Pub operates rain or shine! If its going to rain, we recommend bringing rain jackets and/or ponchos. It’s still a lot of fun- think of it as an adventure, plus we have a roof to cover you. These tours can be a lot of fun with the right group.

We only cancel tours if there are unsafe conditions, as described by a national weather advisory. The booking person will be contacted prior to a tour if severe weather is expected.

Can more than 14 people fit on the Trolley Pub?
Unfortunately we cannot due to strict local laws. The fourteen seats include all of our pedaling seats and the back bench.

Are people under the age of 21 allowed on board?
Yes, but they will not receive a wrist band and cannot drink while on board.  Riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present.  The minimum age to ride the Trolley Pub is 13. We check ID’s for all riders.

Is there a weight limit for riders?
Yes. Unfortunately due to the nature of the vehicles, customers over 275 pounds will not be able to comfortably ride the Trolley Pub and risk breaking our seats. Please call in advanced if this might be an issue.
